He is wonderful – Fred, 68, and a loyal employee of the Council since he left school. Happy and always helpful, if you point out any offending pot-holes, and let’s face it, there are many, or problems with the banks, roads or ditches, Fred will help, and if he can’t make the repairs on the spot, then he knows a man who can. You can see Fred on his rounds usually every 4/5/ weeks, so have a chat or give him a wave. Apparently, the upkeep of our local roads was in the hands of Belfour but 6 weeks ago Ringway took over and they are really taking local road maintenance very seriously indeed. Complaints about pot-holes, as explained in the Village Voice, can be emailed to email@example.com or on 01225 777234; that is of course if you miss Fred! Sadly, not just me, but Parish Chairman Patrick as well as Fred had problems with showing the Council repair teams the different locations of dangerous pot-holes via the downloaded Wiltshire app.. This is because the mobile reception in our locality is very patchy. You could take an image of a pot-hole on the Salisbury Road but it would only display the location at a point where you next picked up reception. In my case I have 23 pot-holes outside my front door!

I grew a beard thinking it would say "Distinguished Gentleman." Instead, turns out it says, "Senior Discount, Please!"

A sad omission is Cinderford but maybe the spate of cat murders and abundance of Indian takeaways might not have helped their case!
